Rachel and James recently returned from overseas together with their three primary school aged children. Their holiday home in Omaha Beach is the ideal spot for a family of five enjoying the outdoors and beach environment.
The (main) front house is situated directly on the waterfront with stunning views overlooking beach, ocean and in the distance Little Barrier Island. A “back house” contains a study, extra bedroom, living room and a garage with laundry and storage.
The brief was to specify new blinds for the main and back house which can withstand the harsh beach environment of Omaha with the strong UV and sun. At the same time they also have to offer privacy and security at the times the family is not occupying the house.
The back house was not used to its full potential and required a makeover to offer extra bedding and storage space for sleep overs of family and friends.
Thick comfortable, custom made mattresses, scatter cushions and plaids, bean bags and seats were added, all in fabrics suitable for indoor and outdoor use from Coast New Zealand and rugs and a coffee table to match the colour scheme.
Rachel and James were away in Auckland for the majority of the renovation, so we project managed and facilitated the entire installation and the deliveries of all products to the site.
The living room required day beds with storage and bedding and extra seating that can be used in and outdoors, a rug and coffee table. A reconfiguration of the existing study also had to include bedding.
For the living room and study, we designed custom made lacquered single king size day beds with pull out drawers, an office desk, filing cabinet and space for a wine fridge.
A tidy up of the existing laundry was also required, with a new washing machine and dryer, a bench with sink and a drawer cabinet.
