A new contemporary architectural high end designed house with incredible attention to detail and extra ordinary bespoke aesthetics based in rolling hills & countryside close to the beach in the north of New Zealand.

For the family room, lounge and pool house the clients have asked me to design some furniture pieces. They love Italian design in an elegant contemporary style made with quality materials. They would like the detailing of the mid brown solid oak timber in kitchen, cinema room and lounge and the custom manufactured dining table to be the inspiration for the new pieces.

The family room has a fireplace and is used for relaxing with close family and friends and as children playroom. A shelving / storage unit is required for storage of children’s toys and other items that normally float around in such a space. The unit is to fit in a recessed wall space 2,700mm wide. The shelving unit has a surrounding steel structure made from 16mm square powder coated steel bars. The shelves are designed in such a way that they seem to float in two different materials; a mid-brown solid Oak, and a decorative “Metalier” Liquid Metal Coating which reflects the light beautifully. The bottom cabinet is made from a solid oak with doors and has adjustable shelving and two high side units. The high door fronts have Wovenpanel®, which is a decorative steel wire mesh that is semi-transparent with a state of the art finishing process giving the unit a classy and slightly transparent look. The unit has a horizontal narrow LED strip at top and bottom, the required power cable is hidden in one of the hollow vertical steel bars.

The console table design is inspired by the existing dining table materials. It has the same steel powder coated 16mm square bars as the shelving unit, the Dekton stone top matches the existing dining table top. The stone is imbedded in a solid oak frame. The floating shelf is in the “Metalier” Liquid Metal Coating.

The top floor in the pool house is used as an office and has views over the big pool, beautiful subtropical garden and rolling hills beyond. The sleek sideboard has a negative detail under the Dekton top, pull-out shelves in the timber veneer drawers and cabinets with quality hardware. The toe kick is set back to make the unit look like it floats and to give it a “light” appearance.  It hides a sound system, printer, heat pump, remotes, office ware, laptop, glasses etc. It is manufactured from a solid light colored oak plank which combines nicely with the other timber furniture pieces in the room and the furniture around the swimming pool.
