Donald and Barbara had just purchased a beautiful, big, two-storey country home on the North Canterbury coast, with spectacular views overlooking the ocean and Kaikoura Ranges. The natural environment with the sea with its horizon and different colours throughout the day and night was a constant inspiration. In the living room we used fabric with horizontal lines in different yarns to understate the horizon and view to the ocean. Custom made sofas were made out of a combination of high quality leather and fabric, with cushions in matching colours. Furniture was all made from high quality timbers. To finish off the rooms we designed custom made rugs. The rug for the living room was the standout piece. It was made of pure wool with Art Silk yarns woven through to copy the shimmer of the light reflection on the water of the ocean.
